Shakespeare??? What's the use??

I'm really confounded...I mean why's all these Shakespeare's gibberish given so much priority?? I mean he wrote in old English which is now totally obsolete now, and hey man I don't think that his novels/dramas stand any chance of being the best seller compared to today's bestselling books like Da Vinci Code, or Consent to kill...so what's the point of reading Shakespeare?
