Christians, why are extreme views necessary?

Though I am an atheist, I must say that extreme views on every side exist. There are some atheist who believe that all christians should die, there are some christians who believe atheist should burn in hell....The fact of the matter is, when dealing with a group of people we must employ the fact that we are dealing with "people"...people have human qualities and those qualities are surrounded by security blankets...when one feels secure in an area and feel as though that area may be threatened, then it could result in that people with security trying to defend that area by creating a view that would destroy the intruder.
